On the road to the airport from Bodrum, immediately after Guvercinlik turn right for the road to Mumcular, and experience an entirely different view of Bodrum where village life dominates over tourism. For much of the 30km to Mazi the road winds through the pine forest; a perfect combination of green and blue with children constantly welcoming you, and pastoral animals wandering freely.
Mazı Restaurant sits on the Hurma wide beach of Mazı. The newly built jetty is frequently busy with boats and safari tours. A door opens to a unique world of taste with fish and seafood cooked using local methods, olive oil dishes and meze prepared with home grown vegetables.
Fishermen return to the beach after a night of fishing and at about 10am you can choose from fish such as sokkan (sinarit or sea bream), orfoz and lahoz (grouper), barbun (red mullet), cipura (gilt head bream), levrek (sea bass), ıskaroz, ısparoz, kefal (grey mullet), mezgit (whiting), akya (leer fish) - or whatever else has been caught in the nets, and they will be cooked to your taste. If you are not a fan of fish, there is a good choice of meat of the Mediterranean cuisine.
Onder Akkas is a local man of Mazı whose education in tourism administration means that he is a true professional. Everything is as clean and comfortable as possible. It's a clean and fun place to swim and sunbathe surrounded by nature, followed by dining in peace and harmony.
